I have been encouraged by a friend to spend the 40days of lent choosing to be creative. I believe this will be a challenge but also freeing. There is creativity in all of us..so sometimes to get the chance to be looking for it is helpful.

For me, I can’t sew,knit, draw, paint..I can just about doodle! So this certainly isn’t going to be an impressive 40days! It won’t be me showing off my skills! Still..I can do this. I’d like to be looking each day for something God is saying. Expressing it in different ways..let’s hope one is not interpretive dance!

I think for me it’ll be through something I see in my little boy & I’ll capture it in a photo. Or a picture God shows me that I’ll attempt to scribble out. Or a prayer..who knows maybe even a poem. It could be a simple line from a book. Each day I will be looking. That is all it takes sometimes..for God doesn’t move. He is constant, but sometimes it’s us that take a few steps away or are just not giving the space to look for him.
My big prayer is that God will give me a monologue during this time as I’d love a new one. Putting it out there in faith and hope..but we shall see!

I want to start by reading the ‘Easter’ story. In each gospel and reading around them too. Then seeing what creative I could do or see relating to it..when it fits!

Day 1. Matt25.31-46
Starting today with Matthew 25
‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
…
40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

This was part of the main thing Jesus spoke about just before He was taken to be killed. Before he went and showed the biggest act of love ever given. He wanted us to know the importance of loving people. Every kind of person, in a way that is more than a smile. It is self-sacrificing, going over and above, physically doing and acting in move not just saying the words.
So today I want to creatively love someone. I’ll probably not share what I do because that kind of thing I don’t think you then blog about as wouldn’t want it to look like a brag rather than a blog!
That’ll be my creative today…it could be feeding someone, giving to a charity shop, caring for someone who is poorly, sending encouragement to someone who needs it or heading into prison.
